What You Will Do. The Summer Food Program Monitor will work at the Department of Children, Youth & Their Families under the supervision and guidance of the Health and Nutrition Services Coordinator. The Summer Food Program Monitor will be responsible for monitoring 8-12 summer food sites in San Francisco (breakfast, lunch, and/or snack) for compliance with established USDA and State regulations and for administrative support for the Summer Food Service Program and other nutrition programs. The Summer Food Program Monitor is expected to travel and work off site in order to complete certain tasks but will have opportunities to complete administrative work in the office 2 days per week and work remotely other days if not conducting site visits.

    Example of Duties:Duties include, but are not limited to,
  • Serves as liaison between DCYF and Summer Meal Sites.
  • Ensures food site personnel maintain records and required documents.
  • Completes 1st and 4th week site review reports for all assigned sites by the required deadlines, in addition to visiting assigned sites on a weekly basis to monitor compliance and review any necessary paperwork.
  • Suggests corrective actions for problems that arise at sites, ensures that sites take corrective actions to troubleshoot problems, and report issues to project-lead personnel
  • Conducts training of site personnel as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Ensures each site maintains supplies at each site.
  • Helps review meal count spreadsheets and enter data in computer using DCYF’s Electronic Tally System (ETS).
  • Performs outreach activities in area surrounding lunch sites.
  • Meets weekly with other Summer Food Program Monitors and supervisors
  • Keep track of necessary travel logs, photos, and submit necessary documents in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned relevant to Summer Meal operations, including attending appropriate site and staff trainings
