This position is located in the Shared Services Unit, Information Technology (IT) Department, at SCDMV Headquarters in Blythewood, SC.
- Responsibilities of the IT Customer Support Specialist III
- This position is responsible for the support of SCDMV users and workstations primarily at the Blythewood headquarters facility. Position will require the removal, installation, and replacement of new workstations, peripherals, and trouble-shooting common desktop applications issues such as those found in Microsoft products. Provides technical support for agency specific software and hardware as needed.
- Provide support to the entire Desktop team or individual team members in the imaging, upgrading and rollout of any general or specific IT technology assets to be placed in SCDMV field offices. Position will require traveling with desktop team staff in assisting with any delegated assignments and/or projects.
- Individual shall cover and provide logistical and technical support to field offices as a backup team member. Position will require as needed the ability to make road trips to any active field office and to resolve technical issues that pertain to those offices. Day, evening or weekend travel maybe necessary to close the active ticket.
- Position requires employee to utilize web-based forms and Service Manager trouble ticket tracking system to document all system trouble/help calls along with recommendations, notes and actions taken. Will assist with inventory management and tracking of assets as necessary. Must have ability to fill out Agency required paperwork in a neat and accurate manner.

- Minimum Requirements
- A high school diploma and experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems. An associate degree or a bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.
- Agency Requirements
- Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include finger printing.
- Additional Requirements
- Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations.
- Effective oral and written communication skills. Positive attitude and high comfort level in a team-oriented, fast-paced, working environment.
- Experience working with computers in a Windows environment.
- The ability and aptitude to learn, develop and use IT technical trouble-shooting skills.
- Familiarity with handling inventory and stock items including the use of computer software for documenting, tracking and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to multi-task and to take on different assignments that spread across a wide range of desktop team responsibilities and end user requirements.
- Works under the general guidance and supervision of Desktop Support Manager.
- Employee has general discretion to use own good judgment in accordance with industry accepted Best Practices documents and procedures.
- Individual should be self-motivated and have the ability to see what needs to be done and accurately convey that information to his supervisor.
- Must possess a valid SC Driver's License.
- Frequent in-state, including some overnight travel, will be required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Will be required to work outside normal 8:30am-5:00pm as needed to meet customer service demands.
- Will be required to keep state provided cellular telephone powered on & with or near their person at all times.
- Must live within a 40-mile radius of Blythewood. Agency Preferred
- Ability to interpret and recognize current hardware and software standards.
- A+ certification is not necessary but is highly desirable.
